Question by WarWormX: Moving from New Jersey to Dallas, Texas. What is there to do there for teens?
In a couple months I am moving from New Jersey to Dallas, Texas. I’m 16. What is there to do there for teens? (food, hangout, parks, events, entertainment, fun, etc)

You didn’t mention where you live in NJ, but if you’re close to Manhattan then you’ll be disappointed with Dallas because there isn’t nearly as much to do here. Here’s a list of some things you might enjoy. Some things on the list are seasonal only. You’ll quickly learn that Dallas, Fort Worth & surrounding suburbs are referred to as the Metroplex and we work and play all over the Metroplex. Dallas does have public transportation but it only goes into a couple suburbs and not into FW, however many teens get a car when they turn 16 so traveling isn’t a problem.
Six Flags Over Texas – in Arlington
Hurricane Harbor Water Park – in Arlington
Ranger Baseball – in Arlington
Palace of Wax – in Grand Prairie
Ripley’s Believe It or Not – in Grand Prairie
Ft Worth zoo – in FW
Dallas zoo – in Dallas
Dallas World Aquarium – in Dallas
Zero Gravity Thrill Amusement Park (bungee jumping, hand gliding, etc) – in Dallas
Long Cabin Village – in FW
Omni Theater in the round – in FW
Sundance Square – in FW
Horseback riding at Widowmaker Trail Rides – in Southlake
Ice skating at Parks Mall – in Arlington & Galleria Mall – in Dallas
Cowtown Cattle Pen Maze – in FW
FW Stockyards – in FW
Casa Manana – in FW
Dallas Cowboy football – in Arlington
Mavericks basketball – in Dallas
Stars hockey – in Dallas
NASCAR – in FW
Traders Village – in Grand Prairie
Horse racing at Lone Star Park – in Grand Prairie
Cedar Ridge Preserve for hiking & biking – in Dallas
Several lakes for swimming, water sports, fishing & camping
Several Rec centers
There’s frequent concerts at various venues.
Probably the most popular food in Texas is Mexican food.

what do you like to do? There is an excellent display at the Kimball Art Museum, The Impressionists. Whatever you decide, I would find indoor activities, as the weather is not looking too good.

What to do for entertainment?

Question by craigsgirly47: What to do for entertainment?
I live about an hour and half from dallas in a small hickish town. I’m taking my fiance out for his birthday and want to do something nice. I’ve made reservations at Avanti Ristorante on McKinney Ave. at 7:30 but what do you suggest we do afterwards? Not anything too pricy and I’m 20 so anywhere with an age requirement of 21+ is not an option. We’ll be dressed kinda formal I guess but anything besides khaki pants or skirt is formal where I live. Anyone have any suggestions?

Tough being under 21, but… Go to Deep Ellum and enjoy the sidewalk freak show. Plenty of good places to eat that don’t serve alcohol. You can get coffee/dessert at Cafe Brazil…

Drive up Central Expressway (75) to Mockingbird and head for Mockingbird Station. Lots of cool shops, restaurants and the Angelika Theatre. You could do the same in the West Village at Lemmon and McKinney, a mile or two from your dinner restaurant.

Go to the top of Reunion Tower (at the Hyatt/Union Station) and get dessert in the revolving restaurant… They do dessert & coffee upstairs from the main restaurant. Great views.

Go ice skating at the Galleria… I-635 & the Tollway… Double check and make sure the rink is still there, it’s been a while since I’ve been.

Have fun!

Any good male strippers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area?

Question by Mz.RiVeRSiDe.817: Any good male strippers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area?
Me and my girls are looking for some adult entertainment or “exotic dancers” for my Bachelorette Party taking place at a Downtown Ft. Worth hotel partyroom.. Only problem, all the companies we find are all in Dallas. I mean no problem, but 0 for only 30 minutes sounds like a rip off. And I already know about LeBare. Does anyone know of a company with good looking men (or maybe even know someone willing) that are affordable?

Best answer:

Answer by George
look in the yellow pages under exotic dancers and escorts

Where is the best place to raise a family near or in Dallas, Texas?

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Question by Tears In Rain: Where is the best place to raise a family near or in Dallas, Texas?
My husband and I don’t care about nightlife or entertainment outside of home. We want to move somewhere where rent on a 2-3 bedroom is around 6 hundred, but not to the ghetto. Any ideas?
what about just in Texas in general? any family oriented cities? even older cities?

Best answer:

Answer by Little Sam
I doubt that you can find anything that cheap in the DFW area without going to the ghetto as you say. If you can spend a little more, try Carrollton. Carrollton is just North of Dallas and fairly safe and relatively inexpensive – around 1000.

Q&A: Where should I move to in the north suburbs of Dallas/Ft. Worth?

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Question by haldo13: Where should I move to in the north suburbs of Dallas/Ft. Worth?
I am a teacher in Chicago and looking to move to teach in Dallas. The reason for this is because my girl friend (teacher) and I are looking to buy a house and the housing market is very affordable in the Dallas area. We are also considering the Austin, TX area….. any help on community would be great. We are both in our early to mid 20s and want to be in a safe community where we can settle down, but people are always out around the community. We do not have kids, but being around them is not a bother to us at all. The more involved a community the better……..close to shopping and entertainment is also a big plus…. thanks for all the help you can give!

Best answer:

Answer by kramerdnewf
If you want to be far north, look at Frisco. This is a new community with great shopping, professional soccer and Minor League Baseball parks, excellent parks and good restaurants. Schools are excellent. In town traffic is a bit messy right now but they are working on that.

Only down side is that much of the property is brand new, so you would continually be fighting the “new construction” price pressures if you went to sell anytime soon.

You will not find a community environment like you have in Chicago where people actually go out onto the streets. Athletics and shopping are about it here.

Sorry not familiar with Ft. Worth.
