Question by Can I just Keep MY change: Is this a hint of obamas tolerance for dissent? Kicking the Dallas morning news, and Wash. Times off his plane?
They kicked the dallas morning news, the washington times and NY post reporters off their campaign plane because those papers had the temerity to come out in support of McCain….can you believe what kind of people we are really dealing with behind the smooth facade of obama? I’ve never heard of a presidential politician doing that before…

Career Suggestions for a College Graduate?

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

OK, here’s my story: I just graduated from Film School with a BA in Film. I have always loved Movies and I still do. Motion Pictures are like Medicine for Life to me. I keep my Tylenol and Excedrin Pills next to my DVD collection so I know where to find them. However, after going through school and practicing what I watched for so long, the lifestyle doesn’t apeal to me so much anymore. I know that once I get me name out there in the business, more jobs will start raining in. But I’ve done a lot free Production Assistant and Film Intern Jobs for just that reason, and now bills are starting to rain down on me. I also just got married and I wouldn’t feel comfortable traveling all the time or scrambling for work project after project. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what other stuff I can possibly do with my life?

I’ve already applied to local news stations and other local Film Companies here in Dallas, TX. Just wanting to hear what you guys have to say.

Tibetan Terrier Puppies?

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

( I hope this is okay. This is a reposted, edited question)
Edit: I wanted to add that I’ve looked for dog breeders in the region, and contacted one about puppies. They said they probably wouldn’t have a new litter born until the fall. I was hoping to by chance find a puppy before that but haven’t had any luck. I’ve thought about adopting one, but still haven’t been able to find a TT that’s close.

Very recently, my family pet passed away. He was a Tibetan Terrier and lived for 11 years. Anyways, I’m hoping to find a new dog, and would like another Tibetan Terrier, preferablly a male puppy. I’ve had no luck looking through the Dallas Morning News Classifieds, but was hoping maybe anyone knew anyone, or was personally selling TT Pups close to Dallas, Texas.

This question was in my school paper.. what is “losing your virginity”?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

In an article in my school paper and later in the Dallas Morning News they said that when you perform oral sex (blow job or eating out) or you give a hand job or your finger someone that you lose your virginity. Do you agree or disagree? Is losing your virginity when a girl gives you a blow job or you actually have sex? Do you lose your virginity when a guy fingers you or you have sex? Just curious of people’s opinions.
I go to a Christian university and it was contreversial in the paper is why I ask…

Texas pledge includes “god” ..Atheists sue. Do Atheists have to much time on their hands?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Why do atheists do this? For media coverage? Anyway how do you feel about this? Think they have to much time on their hands? If I was a libertine I wouldn’t even worry about such things.

DALLAS, Aug. 29 (UPI) — A federal judge has denied a request for a preliminary injunction to bar recitation in public schools of a new version of the Texas pledge that refers to God.

An atheist couple in Dallas has filed a lawsuit challenging the new version of the pledge, which was adopted this year by Texas lawmakers, The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday.

I am sure the founding fathers would still agree on atheism and it’s place.

For those who say that illegal immigrants are not breaking any laws……?

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

Please read this article from the Dallas Morning News. Now of course not all had criminal records and of course Americans break the law all the time, but there is no reason to put up with law-breakers who ALSO have no right to be here. No real question here but feel free to share you EDUCATED thoughts. No need to curse anyone out.

And yes, shame on the United States government for letting things like this go on.

What is this world coming to?

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

A Texas family is suing Gov. Rick Perry and a school district over a state-mandated moment of silence in schools, according to The Dallas Morning News.

David Wallace Croft and his wife, Shannon, of Carrollton, Texas, have three children at Rosemeade Elementary and argue that the moment of silence is unconstitutional and amounts to state-sanctioned school prayer.

The couple has a history of complaints against religious-affiliated words and images in schools, having previously complained about Boy Scout rallies held during school, fliers sent home about Good News Bible Club meetings and the inclusion of “Silent Night” and a Hanukkah song in holiday concerts, according to report.

Krista Moody, a spokeswoman for Perry, said the moment of silence law that the Crofts filed a suit against on March 1, 2006, was passed in 2003 and calls for students to observe a moment of silence after reciting pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags each day.

The governor is certainly in favor of allowing students and faculty to quietly reflect on what they chose,” Moody told FOXNews.com.

Moody said the beauty behind the freedom of the law is children get to do with the moment what they wish. There are no guidelines behind the silence.

Angela Shelley, media specialist for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, could not comment on the case due to current litigation but said that in dealing with the Crofts, the district has been fair and is following the law.

“We have been fair and equal to everybody,” she told FOXNews.com. “We need to respect everybody and value everybody’s opinion. We are following the letter of the law.”

Ted Cruz, solicitor general for Texas who represented Perry at a federal district court hearing on Tuesday, said the Crofts are arguing specifically that every moment of silence statute in the country is unconstitutional, and even if that first point is not correct, they further argue any statute that mentions the word “pray” is unconstitutional.

Twenty-five states have moment-of-silence statutes. Thirteen of them explicitly specify prayer as an option the child can choose.

The Crofts are citing a case from the 1980s that struck down a moment of silence statute in Alabama.

“That argument is contrary to binding U.S. Supreme Court precedent,” Cruz told FOXNews.com.

Cruz said the Texas law is virtually identical to a Virginia state law that was unanimously held up in the federal court of appeals in 2001. The Supreme Court later declined to review that case. He said in initiating the current law, the Texas legislature has acted to protect the freedom of conscience of every child.

“The First Amendment was drafted to protect the religious liberty of everyone, not to express hostility to matters of faith,” he told FOXNews.com.

Cruz said the federal court heard arguments on the matter Tuesday and would decide the case in about a month.
Why do Athiest say we are imposing our religon when they are doing the same thing!

Are you from a state that never heard about the devastating ice/blizzard storms that hit Iowa recently?

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

I called my sis in Tx. 3 days into what turned out to be power outages in thousands of homes, closed interstate 80 and took down high lines like broken matchsticks and she said there was nothing in the Dallas newspaper or on tv about it! We went to a motel 20 miles form here and just barely got a room in time before they filled up.
1500 volunteers from several states including Ga. andKentucky came to help get power up but many areas without it for 12 days and some still don’t have it. Nursing Home here blew out their only generator when they got it installed after 4 days without power to some parts of the Home!Trees down all over the N. half of the state and they too took out power lines. I cannot believe this was not in national news. Did your state report it at least to a modest degree! One thing about it, it really brings out the good in people you don’t even know. Some took all our meat to their generater powered house til we returned.

How long will it be before the quality of care in our hospitals looks like what we would find in a VA hospital?

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

I am not taking away from the skills of the VA staff. I think they are overworked and cannot keep up with the demand. Is this the future for all of us except the politicians who exempted themselves from this plan the way they are exempt from the broken Social Security system?
