Do I need to go through immigration going from USVI to Bahamas through Miami?

I am on an H1B visa. I will leave the USVI (STT) and go to the Bahamas through Miami. The problem is that there is only an hour and a half between arrival/departure in Miami. Would I have to go through immigration in Miami?… I would guess that USVI is similar to Puerto Rico in the sense that a valid U.S. driver’s license would suffice but apparently the USVI is subject to different rules. Any insight?

Also, would a 1 hr and a half layover suffice in Dallas (DFW) airport’s immigration? I have heard it surely is not enough in JFK or Atlanta (major airports).

you go through Customs and Immigration when you leave St Thomas and so you don’t have to “clear in” when you get to Miami…..just go over to the plane for Bahamas and show your ID again…now, there may be a requirement by the Bahamas for you to have a visa …depends what country you are from…..better check that first or they wont let you on the plane in Miami…
