He drops Floyds name because they need a Floyd Mayweather fight rather people want to admit it or not. Being serious after over a million people watched Floyd Out-Class Juan Marquez how lucrative would Pacquiao- Marquez 3 honisty be ?
Even Roach wants Pacquiao- Mayweather the downside to all this Pacquaio- Mayweather talk is that they might be over looking the man in front of them (Miguel Cotto).
Its time for people to admit it Pacquaio needs Floyd more than Floyd needs him. If Pacqauio dosen’t fight Floyd who is their really left to have a mega fight with, Marquez three has lost a lot of intrest because over a million fans watched Floyd distroy him.
On thr flipside if Floyd dosen’t fight Pacquiao their still a long list of guys that he can match up great with, Mosley,Cotto,Berto,Clottey, and even Margarito if he wants to take that risk, Pacquiao dosen’t have as many options.
Bob Arum is just using Floyd’s name to sell. I think this is a disrespect to Cotto who has a chance to beat Pacquiao. But again, Bob Arum also said the name of Juan Manuel Marquez as a chance for Pacquiao to fight and not in this article but recently Bob Arum wants Pacquiao to unify the welterweight belts and fight Sugar Shane Mosley.
Floyd is a superstar, many people like to watch him, so throwing his name there and here sells even if Pacquaio is not the man he will fight. I am not going to give up, I hope Mayweather change his mind on Hatton, and actually Mayweather would still be in a lose lose situation with Pacquiao. He should fight Mosley, Cotto, or Williams.
Wow, that’s going to tick off Floyd. It’s a dirty tactic that many sleazy promoters will do. They will half-promise something to get the fans excited, in the hopes of the fans pressuring the performer into signing.
But this kind of thing backfires when used on Floyd Mayweather. Floyd’s the kind of guy to walk out on principal. Both sides are clearly doing everything they can to gain negotiational advantage.
Is Arum off base? Heck yah. It makes the potential match up less likely. If Pac beats Cotto, I can see Floyd saying “I’ll fight Pac tomorrow if Arum is out of the picture”.
