I’m still trying to understand Fantasy Football. Can you help?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

*
I still don’t understand how fantasy sports work.
I asked about them in Yahoo Answers before and was told the players are evaluated on how they play a game. There are drafts and fantasy teams and leagues. However, that is all meaningless to me without further information and a concept of fantasy sports.

What is a draft?

How do the players play?
How are they evaluated?
Who evaluates them?
Are there real games?
Do they go outside to the sandlot and mash it out?
Are the games real or fantasy?
Is there a fantasy touch-down or fantasy score?

If a guy has a player from Detroit and another player from Dallas on his fantasy team, how do they play a single game together as team mates?
Aren’t they rivals that play against each other?

How does the whole fantasy sports thingie work please?

Please do not assume I know anything (including terminology).
Who – What -When – Where – Why & How?

Please answer as if I just came from Mars. Or China!

謝謝 and 和平 – ♥

Should I accept this fantasy football trade?

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I get Plaxico Burress; I give Braylon Edwards

Here is my team:

QB Marc Bulger (StL – QB)
QB Vince Young (Ten – QB)
WR Andre Johnson (Hou – WR)
WR Santana Moss (Was – WR)
WR Braylon Edwards (Cle – WR)
RB Frank Gore (SF – RB)
RB Clinton Portis (Was – RB)
TE L.J. Smith (Phi – TE)
W/R Willis McGahee (Bal – RB)
W/R LaMont Jordan (Oak – RB)
BN Santonio Holmes (Pit – WR)
BN Randy McMichael (StL – TE)
BN Vernand Morency (GB – RB)
BN Byron Leftwich (Jac – QB)
BN –empty–
K Neil Rackers (Ari – K)
BN Josh Scobee (Jac – K)
BN –empty–
DEF Denver (Den – DEF)
BN Dallas (Dal – DEF)

We are in an 8 team Head-to-head league. I read in Beckett Fantasy sports monthly that many 3rd-year WR’s excel in their third year. Braylon is entering his third year, but in Cleavland I am not sure if I should Deal him. Please state your opinions and the best explaination gets 10 points!
Also add any suggestions (such as drops, pick-ups, or other trades) that you feel are neccessary.
I have the backup kicker/defense because of the bye week. Then I will trade them for a good player once they are used.

Isn’t Dallas more like the New York Yankees of football, and not New England?

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

New England’s actually won a Super Bowl (3, to be exact) in the 21st century. Dallas did not.

Yankee fans claim that the New York Yankees are one of the richest, most liked franchises in the sport, but a majority of every other fanbase disagrees. Same situation with the Cowboys.

WITH Terell Owens and Tony Romo, Dallas can and will not win a Super Bowl, just like New York probably can’t capture a World Series with Alex Rodriguez.

The media has just as much interest for a Cowboy loss as they would with a say, another team scoring 20 runs in a game. The media had QUITE a bit more to say about Dallas than when SD’s second-stringers practically ripped up Indy. When the Yankees lost, nobody cared about Cleveland…. it was all about what would become of the team.

Anyone see where I’m getting at?
Nate, your source isn’t credible because you are a Cowboy fan. The Red Sox are hated much more than the Yankees. Now go cry about Dallas stinking it up and choking (again) and come back next year.

Where can I find attendance statistics for Arena Football League games this season?

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

I wanted to take my family to see the Dallas Desperados Friday night, but 4 cheap tickets would’ve cost $100. Most professional sporting events are on TV anyway now. I’m wondering why ticket prices stay so high if attendance is low. It seems like they would want to price tickets where the stadium would be at least 80% full and with most games being on TV for free I don’t understand why ticket prices are going up and up.
