Looking for my Mom’s 1972 Baby Blue Gran Torino in Dallas, Texas-need help finding it.?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Mom’s car was stolen by a tow company from her apartment in the 90’s. Now she is old and ill and I would love nothing more than to find it. She still misses this car and yes, it was as sweet as the one in the movie.
I have the VIN number (which I won’t post here), but the standard internet computer programs that use the VIN number DO NOT take a car this old. Maybe the DMV can give me this information? It was Baby Blue, 2 door 357 Gran Torino Sport towed around 1993-for what it is worth.
The car wouldn’t be reported as stolen as whatever tow company took it probably got a Lien against it when my Mom counldn’t pay the fees and they aquired it legally (immorally). I just want the final whereabouts, which I am hoping the VIN number record can show.
**CarFax and the like will not show a car this old**
Called the DMV and in Texas a tow company has to send two letters in 31 days and it is theirs-they do NOT have to file a lien, they just get it. My Mom is listed as the last registered owner, which means on paper she owns it, but it is gone like the wind. They only have to keep records for 2 years, which has obviously passd. I was able to check 20 other states and it hasn’t been registered in the last 7 years either.
My last step is to bother the apartmet complex to see if they have records of the tow company used (fat chance) and writting a form letter to all tow yards in Dallas in the hopes that I can find it or really, just proof of where it went. I’ve seen the cars flat-as-fritters going to Mexico, I just want to know where it went.. That car to me is the 70’s and my young Mom. Damm.

Looking for IT positions offering H1B Visas in Dallas?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

My boyfriend lives in the UK and works in the IT department of the leading news publication there. He has a TREMENDOUS amount of experience, a college degree, and all the ability to acclimate to any IT position in the States. Salary is of least importance. He needs a visa sponsorship, though. It’s very hard to find job openings which state willingness to provide this. Anywhere in Texas is fine, but Dallas is preferable.

Any suggestions on finding these positions?

Looking for a more powerful way to search for inexpensive flights?

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

I find things like yahoo farechaser and all the equivalent tools on sites like travelocity to be lacking. Anyone who’s familiar with the power and flexibility of SQL knows what I’m talking about.

Specifically, I am looking for a way to make the following kinds of searches:

Alert me when the following search returns 1 or more results:
For each of these airports: LGA, NEW, JFK, BDL, look for flights arriving at any of the following airports: DFW, LAX, NRT, BIM, departing on any FRIDAY and returning 3 days after the arriving flight (the next Sunday) for under $600.

What’s new to that search is the ability to group geographically unrelated airports together and the ability to look for flights leaving or arriving on a particular weekday, instead of a using a specific date or date range.

Now I’m almost certain no such tool exists to execute the example search that I wrote here. Do you know of one? And if there isn’t a way to do that right now, shouldn’t there be?

TIA!

Do you see how I grouped geographically unrelated airports together and had the ability to look for flights leaving or arriving on a particular weekday, instead of a using a specific date or date range? I’ve checked all the commonly known websites out there and NONE of them can do either of those things.

Do you know of one? And if there isn’t a way to do that right now, shouldn’t there be?
