You didn’t mention where you live in NJ, but if you’re close to Manhattan then you’ll be disappointed with Dallas because there isn’t nearly as much to do here. Here’s a list of some things you might enjoy. Some things on the list are seasonal only. You’ll quickly learn that Dallas, Fort Worth & surrounding suburbs are referred to as the Metroplex and we work and play all over the Metroplex. Dallas does have public transportation but it only goes into a couple suburbs and not into FW, however many teens get a car when they turn 16 so traveling isn’t a problem.
Six Flags Over Texas – in Arlington
Hurricane Harbor Water Park – in Arlington
Ranger Baseball – in Arlington
Palace of Wax – in Grand Prairie
Ripley’s Believe It or Not – in Grand Prairie
Ft Worth zoo – in FW
Dallas zoo – in Dallas
Dallas World Aquarium – in Dallas
Zero Gravity Thrill Amusement Park (bungee jumping, hand gliding, etc) – in Dallas
Long Cabin Village – in FW
Omni Theater in the round – in FW
Sundance Square – in FW
Horseback riding at Widowmaker Trail Rides – in Southlake
Ice skating at Parks Mall – in Arlington & Galleria Mall – in Dallas
Cowtown Cattle Pen Maze – in FW
FW Stockyards – in FW
Casa Manana – in FW
Dallas Cowboy football – in Arlington
Mavericks basketball – in Dallas
Stars hockey – in Dallas
NASCAR – in FW
Traders Village – in Grand Prairie
Horse racing at Lone Star Park – in Grand Prairie
Cedar Ridge Preserve for hiking & biking – in Dallas
Several lakes for swimming, water sports, fishing & camping
Several Rec centers
There’s frequent concerts at various venues.
Probably the most popular food in Texas is Mexican food.

what do you like to do? There is an excellent display at the Kimball Art Museum, The Impressionists. Whatever you decide, I would find indoor activities, as the weather is not looking too good.

I have no family in Dallas, me and a relative are going to take the chance and move because we love TX, especially Dallas. I currently live outside, Nashville, TN. I am 24yrs of age, a college grad who plans on attendeing grad school for speech language pathology. I enjoy the night life but also taking care of buisness. I just fear it because, I dont know it. Please give as much info as possible on the Dallas areas, entertainment, cost of living, racial make-up of Dallas? and anything else?

What is your favorite sport? and the team for sport if there is teams??

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

mine is football and mainly dallas

There are 8 teams who play on Wed. who also play each other in the first round. Who will play the hardest?

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

On Wednesday April 18th, the last day of the season. there are 8 teams who are slated to play each other who are also slated to play each other in the first round of the playoffs. This is all based on current yahoo sports playoff matchups: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/playoffmatchups;_ylt=Ake.3Xwqq.MxbibMsflHrw28vLYF (and therefore could change, but unlikely)

Who do you think will play hard and try to set the tone for the playoffs, and who will rest on their achievements and rest up for the playoffs?
Dallas vs Golden State
Chicago vs New Jersey
San Antonio vs Denver
Houston vs Utah

And as a bonus question, when has it ever happened where there have been so many teams meet up on the last day of the regular season only to meet each other again in the playoffs?

Are people proud of there race?

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Like i said before, everyone has diffrent opinions and i agree with that, i have no problem with what other people think, i am a kool person, Okay the big march was here, i was happy because i saw people of all races not just Mexicans, i saw how we were united and together, i could not believe my eyes how many people i saw i wanted to cry, but because i was happy, I agree once again that we are “Illegaly” here but i once again tell you that we are here to work, our government is so poor, i have lived here all my fourteen years, i wrote a letter to the Dallas Morning News the other day, some one that new me replied me back to my email and said awful things to me, i felt bad and i cried, i could not see why people are so cruel, i am just standing up for my rights! i agree that we all have diffrent opinions i know that, and just because she is Anglo,White,African American etc, does not mean i will start to disrespect them, why are some people not proud of their race?

Is it just me, or is basketball (in particular NBA basketball) the worst officiated sport there is?

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

A guy on sports talk radio in Dallas several years ago, George Dunham, asked the $64 dollar question: “What exactly is a foul?”

I am not just griping from the standpoint of my team. My team also gets the benefit of lousy calls going the other way. And this whole thing about a reserve player not being able to do what an All-Star gets away with is absurd.

In football, there are only maybe 5 – 10 pass interference judgment calls each game. In baseball, the strike zone requires some subjectivity but typically the umpire establishes a standard in the first inning and the players adjust. Why can’t NBA referees adjust to some (ANY?) standard?
